Walnut Grove Cemetery
The beautiful Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Missouri is the final
resting place of Louis and Katherine Weyland and for a number of their
descendants. Many years ago, an obelisk was erected, to commemorate
the Weyland family. The graves and head stones of individual family
members are scattered around it. Some of the graves are unmarked.
The first three photo's below show the obelisk through the years. The
first photo was taken in 1905. Note the newly-planted tree, barely visible
behind the obelisk. In the second photo, taken about fifty years later,
the tree, visible on the right, has grown tall. In the third photo, taken in
2006, another half-century has passed and only the stump remains.
